First Book Haul!

I recently stopped by my local library per usual, and noticed a section in the lobby that featured a used book sale. It’s been there for quite a while, but I’ve never really stopped to take a look. This time though, I browsed through and loved what I found!

The first book I came across was Sinner, which I completely freaked out about because I had just read the book a week ago and loved it so much (it was fate), and at 50 cents, I didn’t even think twice about making that purchase. Then I dug through the shelves some more and found so many other interesting titles that I can’t wait to read!

And, as you can see in the picture, I also came across an excellent movie that I will definitely re-watch, the Maze Runner! Starring the one and only brilliant Dylan O’Brien. Shout out to my fellow Teen Wolf Stiles fans!

So, moving on, what books did I get?

The Death Cure by James Dashner: WICKED has taken everything from Thomas: his life, his memories, and now his only friends—the Gladers. But it’s finally over. The trials are complete, after one final test. Will anyone survive?

Status: Read first two books and loved them, kind of hard to get into this one…heard it was not as good as the previous. Thoughts?

Something Blue by Emily Griffin: Darcy Rhone has always been able to rely on a few things: Her beauty and charm. Her fiance, Dex. Her lifelong best friend, Rachel. She never needed anything else.Or so she thinks until Dex calls off their dream wedding and she uncovers the ultimate betrayal.

Status: Have not read the first book, Something Borrowed, and bought this anyway…probably should’ve thought that through more, but eh, it’s only 50 cents and maybe I’ll check out the first one to read.

The List by Karin Tanabe: Meet Adrienne Brown, a twenty-eight-year-old Wellesley College grad who recently left her glamorous job at Town & Country for a spot at the Capitolist…she stumbles upon a juicy political affair, involving a very public senator—and her most competitive colleague.

Status: Looked interesting, but does not seem to have great reviews. Not too high on my to-read list since I’m not too into politics and journalism, but it could be a unique read.

The True Story of Hansel and Gretel by Louise Murphy: In the last months of the Nazi occupation of Poland, two children are left by their father and stepmother to find safety in a dense forest. Renamed “Hansel” and “Gretel”, as their real names are too Jewish, they wander in the woods until they are taken in by Magda, an eccentric and stubborn old woman called “witch” by the nearby villagers. Magda is determined to save them, even as a German officer arrives in the village with his own plans for the children.

Status: Great summary, really got me interested in reading this book! Especially since it’s a new take on a fairytale.

Panic by Lauren Oliver: Panic began as so many things do in Carp, a dead-end town of 12,000 people in the middle of nowhere: because it was summer, and there was nothing else to do. Heather never thought she would compete in Panic, a legendary game played by graduating seniors, where the stakes are high and the payoff is even higher.

Status: Loved Delirium by Lauren Oliver, and I have always wanted to read this book (it sounds kind of Hunger Games esque).

Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan: Will Grayson meets Will Grayson. One cold night, in a most unlikely corner of Chicago, two strangers are about to cross paths. From that moment on, their world will collide and lives intertwine. It’s not that far from Evanston to Naperville, but Chicago suburbanites Will Grayson and Will Grayson might as well live on different planets.

Status: I live in Naperville!!! Wow so cool. My sister has read this book and thought I would really like it, so I’ll probably read this first. And come on, John Green and David Levithan, such powerhouses.

Sinner by Maggie Steifvater: found.
Cole St. Clair has come to California for one reason: to get Isabel Culpeper back. She fled from his damaged, drained life, and damaged and drained it even more. He doesn’t just want her. He needs her.

Status: Already read, love, love, love it!! Must read for everyone, and you don’t need to have read the Shiver series to understand it (although it would be helpful to).
